In Times Like These, We Have A Savior

In Times Like These, We Have A Savior

In Times Like These, We Have a Savior

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans8:31-39)

There’s an old hymn that keeps running through my mind these days. It goes like this:

In times like these you need a Savior

In times like these you need an Anchor

Be very sure, be very sure,

Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock.

This rock is Jesus, yes He’s the One

This rock is Jesus, the Only One

Be very sure, be very sure,

Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

In times like these, I have a Savior,

In times like these, I have an Anchor

I’m very sure, I’m very sure

My anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

In times like these you need the Bible

In times like these O be no idle

Be very sure, be very sure

Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

This rock is Jesus, yes He’s the One

This rock is Jesus, the Only One

Be very sure, be very sure

Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock

As we face an uncertain future, we face it with certainty. That certainty is a faith in the God who never fails. Another old hymn says On the Rock of Ages, I shall not be moved, just like a tree planted by the water, I shall not be moved. There are in the midst of uncertainty things that remind us of the consistency of the God who said, I am the Lord, I change not and the constant Jesus who said, I am the same, yesterday, and forever. I do not know if I will become ill with the Coronavirus or whether if I would be able to survive, but this I know that my Savior will be with me and if this life ends then the eternal one will begin. What a glorious thought that is. I have lived for over 40 years with heaven in my future and that day when I behold His face will be far beyond anything I’ve ever known. Please know that I am not downplaying the seriousness of these times. They are real. This is not some pep talk but an honest view of faith in the Creator who holds all things including us in His hands. As the children’s song says, He’s got the whole world in His hands. He’s got you and me brother/sister in His hands. So as all this unfolds, I choose to trust the God who is constant and has a history of delivering, caring for and supplying the need of His people. Trust Him.

SATURDAY, WE WILL SIT IN THE PARKING LOT AND WE WILL WORSHIP OUR RISEN LORD!

Hope to see you there. Just a reminder, we will be giving you an opportunity to worship the Lord with singing, giving and hearing the Word of God.

Know that you’re loved and prayed over every day.
