Devotion for March 25, 2020

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
I love these words. I want to remind us of these words from God. It’s easy to give up and give in to fear. I am sure we should be concerned and all the precautions are necessary including not being able to gather at 5333 Cove Road. Hear these words from our Heavenly Father. First I’m glad that when I’m weary and weak He neither faints nor grows weary and He gives His power to those of us who are on the verge of giving up. He gives His strength to those who have no might. Remember Paul’s words? In my weakness His strength is made complete. These verses remind us that human strength alone isn’t sufficient for the youth and the young men who are strong aren’t strong enough to face the challenges of life especially at this time. I watched a news program where the speaker was pleading with the millennials to not take the virus lightly. The next words are the most important. Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. That word wait in the original Hebrew is interesting. Most read this as though we are to patiently wait upon the Lord to finally come to our rescue. Others read it as those who serve the Lord, wait upon the Lord. Both these ideas are wonderful but they don’t capture the meaning. The Hebrew word means to intertwine as a vine would wrap itself around a tree and the tree would grow around the vine until they become inseparable. This is what I urge us to do in this time. Wrap your heart, your soul, your mind and your very being around Christ. Let Him capture your mind and heart. Let Him direct your decisions. Seek His presence and His counsel.
Be encourage O beloved people of God. Dawn is on the horizon and the Son is coming to you in His strength and power.
